ASCEPT Lecturer 2010 – Call for Nominations
At its meeting in March 1987, the Council of ASCEPT agreed to establish the ASCEPT Lectureship. The Lectureship is awarded to honour a member of ASCEPT who has made a significant and sustained contribution to the development of pharmacology and/or toxicology in Australasia. The award will be delivered biennially, alternating with the Rand Medal Lecture, and will consist of a plaque, or as determined by Council from time to time.
Judgement criteria: The award is made on the basis of a candidate’s significant and sustained contribution to pharmacology and/or toxicology in Australasia and a supporting statement from the nominators. These will be judged by a special Award Committee appointed by the Executive of ASCEPT. Nomination deadline: Nominations for the award must be received by the ASCEPT Secretariat no later than 14 June 2010.
Nominators should provide the following via email:
- A two to four page (A4) summary describing the candidate's significant and sustained contribution to the development of pharmacology and/or toxicology in Australasia.
- A full curriculum vitae of the candidate.
Notification: The Award Committee will advise the President of the Society of its selected ASCEPT Lecturer. The President will then invite the selected lecturer to deliver the ASCEPT Lecture during the Annual Scientific Meeting of ASCEPT in the year of the Award. The President will also advise unsuccessful nominees and their nominators, with a copy of all correspondence to the Secretariat.
Award presentation: Formal presentation of the ASCEPT Lecturer plaque will be made by the President to the recipient at the conclusion of this lecture.
Travel expenses: The Secretariat will liaise with the ASCEPT Lecturer regarding travel. The cost of economy class travel to the meeting, and reasonable expenses (registration fee, accommodation) to attend the meeting, will be paid by the Society. If reimbursement of travel costs are sought valid receipts will be required by the Secretariat.
